Must-Visit Parks in Moscow for Students

Gardens and parks in Moscow are often a top choice among tourists when coming to Russia’s great capital; while for the locals, it is considered an important venue for their social life. These days, parks in Moscow are popular areas for various sports activities, outdoor performances, culture festivals, concerts, and much more.

As you go by, you will discover that there are more than pleasant strolls under the greenery in these exciting parks. Find out more about how you can enjoy most of your stay in Moscow as a student in these top must-visit parks we’ve listed below.

Gorky Park

Gorky Park is regarded as Moscow’s main park. In 1928, the Bolsheviks founded the park, which fell into chaos decades later in the 1990s but was renovated recently in 2011 after a lengthy restoration project. The park covers an area of 120 hectares and is made up of several different areas.

The park is itself quite extensive that there is enough capacity for everyone to fit in; every weekend, about 250,000 visitors come to relax and enjoy themselves in the park. Gorky Park is free to enter, making it friendly for students, and visitors can relax in the park’s green spaces, visit restaurants, play sports, rent bikes, or take a boat ride on the Moskva River.

If you want to relax with your schoolmates or engage in different activities, this park has everything you need to unwind from all the academic stress.

Museon Art Park

The Park of Arts gets its name from the largest collection of open-air sculptures in Russia. More than 1000 diverse exhibitions are already present: including the sculptures of the socialist realism era to different types of contemporary art. However, the park attractions don’t end here. The park regularly hosts a variety of concerts, educational art, design projects, and festivals.

Whether you’re an arts student or an enthusiast, this place will never run out of spectacles for you to discover.

Zaryadye Park

If you’re seeking a contemporary experience in the park, you might want to check out this one. In 2017, the city’s brand new Zaryadye park opened in the heart of the city. You can go there on your way to the Bolshoi Theater, Red Square, or Tverskaya Street and visit the park’s observation deck for excellent panoramic views of historic Moscow.

The park is divided into four areas, each representing the different parts of the landscapes in Russia. Starting from the floating bridge above the river, where you can get one of the best sweeping views of Moscow. The park also has a 5D cinema where you can enjoy a flight above Moscow, restaurants, cafes, fish-filled lakes, and old preserved churches.

All-Russia Exhibition Center (VDNKh)

Although nothing has changed much in this park since the Soviet era, it is still one of the well-known parks in Moscow, making it one of the city’s most popular attractions.

VDNKh’s symbol is a fountain with 16 women representing the USSR’s nationalities’ friendship. Various shops, cafes, and exhibitions may now be found inside the pavilions. A Vostok rocket and an airplane can be found deep within the park. A prominent sculpture called “Worker and Kolkhoz Woman” may be found near the northern entrance. If you continue deeper into the park, you will come to a peaceful area where you’ll stumble upon a charming lake and a forest.
