How Much Does It Really Cost to Study in Ireland

Tuition Fees

Tuition fees for international students vary depending on the following factors: location of the institution, institution, program, and whether the student is an EU or non-EU student. 

Non-EU students’ tuition fees are more expensive than EU students. 

Undergraduate tuition fees for non-EU students cost around €9,850 to €25,500 for programs such as business, engineering, science and technology, arts, and humanities. For medicine and health sciences, the cost is higher, around €39,500 to €55,000. EU students, on the other hand, have lower or free tuition fees. 

Postgraduate tuition fees for non-EU students cost around €9950 to €34,500 for programs including business, engineering, science and technology, and arts and humanities. Medicine and Health Sciences programs cost higher amounting to around €18,000 to €32,000. EU students, on the other hand, are entitled to the standard EU rate. 

Language School costs differ depending on the institution and the type of program chosen by the student. Below are the average costs of language courses per program in Ireland. 

General English  €150 – €250 per week
One on one €45 –  €60 per hour
Exam preparation €700 – €950 for four weeks
International Foundation  €6500 – €13,200

Living Costs

Aside from tuition fees, there are other expenses students must pay for such as accommodation fees, food, entertainment, transportation, books, and so on. 

Below are the average fees students need to pay for each necessity.

Scholarships and Other Financial Aid

Despite all its amazing qualities and opportunities, one of the reasons why many students are discouraged to study in Ireland is the cost of living and tuition fees.
